Dr. Sharifa Batts, DBA, MBA
I was born in Long Beach and am a long-term resident of the city, where my mother Hattie Herring and I have been strong community activists. I am married to Cameron Batts and we are the proud parents of two daughters, Sydney Traxler and Camiya Batts, who attended Longfellow, Hughes, and graduated from Long Beach Poly High School. I graduated and ran track at Long Beach City College and later qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials in track and field as a 400M hurdler. I currently serve as the Environment, Health, & Safety Director at Ports America and oversee operations in the Port of Los Angeles and across the United States.
The Long Beach Unified School District has and continues to serve as an excellent example of educational excellence, and I am deeply committed to adding to its continued success as a member of the board.
